FAQ

Duration

Appointments are typically 50 minutes long. During the initial appointment, I will gather information about your presenting concerns, background, and goals for therapy, and we will collaboratively begin to formulate a treatment plan. Subsequent sessions typically occur on a weekly basis; however, we may decide to establish a different frequency of sessions based on your needs and availability.

Fees

My standard rate is $125 for 50 minute sessions.
I do not currently accept payment from managed care or health insurance plans, but I frequently help my clients use their out-of-network insurance benefits to obtain some reimbursement for services. This means that my clients are responsible for the full fee at the time of our appointment, and a certain percentage of the fee may be paid to them through their insurance company. I require payment at the time services are provided. I accept cash, personal checks or credit cards.

If you have questions about this process, I will be happy to walk you through it, and I provide all of the paperwork necessary to file these claims. Reduced rates may be available on a limited basis, and I am open to discussing fees and payment during an initial phone consultation.

Getting Started

As therapy involves a significant commitment of time, resources and energy, it will be important for you to reflect on your therapeutic needs in advance of this work and to take the time throughout the consultation process to determine if my style, areas of expertise and approach appear to be a match.
Please call or email me about setting up a 10-15 minute phone conversationto talk through your concerns and help determine if we might work well together.

a. Prior to Initial Meeting

In advance of our first meeting, I will email the intake forms. Please complete and either email them back to me or bring to our first session.

b. Initial Meeting

During our first meeting, we will explore your purpose and goals for therapy and collaboratively explore what psychotherapeutic treatment could entail and how we might work together. I will also share with you my clinical impressions and assessment, and make recommendations about what I believe will be most helpful for you in terms of treatment. If either of us feels a referral to another therapist is necessary, I can provide recommendations.
