Therapy Approach and Process

At its core, I believe therapy to be a collaborative and relational process. What this means is that I operate from the principle that not only is a trusting, authentic and affirming relationship the foundation of effective therapy, but that the quality and strength of our alliance will help determine how impactful your therapy will be. As a result, you can expect me to treat you with compassion and respect. You can also expect me to be empathic and non-judgmental, active, engaged, transparent and authentic, as well as open to honest feedback about your experience of our work and relationship.

My integrative style aims to promote greater well-being and vitality, alleviate distress and empower clients to navigate their concerns with increased effectiveness. Through our work, I seek to help clients increase their awareness, develop new coping strategies and strengthen their connection to their authentic selves so that they can reach their optimal potential. I provide a warm, compassionate, supportive and empowering environment and relationship in which I meet individuals where they are and help them to feel seen, heard, and affirmed in order to heal, learn and grow. I believe that each client must be understood as an individual whose worldview and sense of self has been informed through many social, cultural and relational interactions and that therapy must be culturally sensitive.

Collaboratively, we will be working to establish treatment goals and identify the areas in which you are hoping to make changes. We will likely explore both your current experiences and concerns as well as your unique history to gain better insight into any patterns of coping and relating that may be contributing to your current concerns or that you may wish to make changes in. I will then incorporate a number of therapeutic techniques and interventions aimed at addressing your treatment goals.
